Scope of Work:

A “swimming pool/spa servicing contractor” means a contractor whose scope of work involves the servicing and repair of any swimming pool or hot tub or spa. The scope of such work may include any necessary piping and repairs, replacement and repair of existing equipment, or installation of new additional equipment as necessary. The scope of such work includes:

the reinstallation of tile and coping, repair and replacement of all piping, filter equipment, and chemical feeders of any type, replastering, reconstruction of decks, and reinstallation or addition of pool heaters;

the installation, construction, modification, substantial or complete disassembly, or replacement of equipment permanently attached to and associated with the pool or spa for the purpose of water treatment or cleaning of the pool or spa requires licensure;

however, the usage of such equipment for the purposes of water treatment or cleaning shall not require licensure unless the usage involves construction, modification, substantial or complete disassembly, or replacement of such equipment.

Obtaining a Pool Servicing Contractor License in Florida

Below is a breakdown of the experience requirements:

* 4 years of project time as a W2 employee of a licensed Commercial Pool, Residential Pool or Pool Servicing contractor (unless you worked in a state that did/does not require a license).
      * Can substitute up to 3 years of college credits from an accredited college.
      * College credits do not have to be construction related!
* Time is calculated by Employment Date.
* Check off at least 12 of the 15 experience area boxes:
* Commercial and/or Residential experience in the following:
           * Water Treatment (Chemically Balancing Pool/Spa Water)
           * Other Water Features (Water Activity Play Areas, Interactive Water Features, etc.)
           * Filter Maintenance
           * Draining Pools
           * Interior Resurface Preparation)
      * Installation of:
           * Pool Heaters
           * Plumbing Equipment (Pumps, Piping, Fittings, Gauges, Pressure Testing, Valves)
           * Maintenance and Repair of Pool Shells (Leak Detection and Testing, Crack Repair)
           * Pool Deck Repair
           * Tile, Coping, and Trim Work
